How To Sign Up With Bluehost

If you have never set up a website and you are looking for a good web host to start with, then Bluehost is one of the better options to choose. Bluehost has been around since 2003 and hosts over 2 million websites. It’s one of the most popular, inexpensive, shared hosting options available.  Bluehost is beginner friendly and a reliable web host for your personal or small business site.

To show you just what I mean with beginner friendly, I will show you how simple it is to take the first step towards creating your own website with Bluehost.

The very first thing you need to do is sign up with Bluehost.

Bluehost has a lot of good features that make it a good option for web hosting, for example:

  • The ability to cancel at any time, their 30 day, money back guarantee gives you full refund.
  • Simple to use control panel (an especially good feature for people new to web hosting and website building).
  • Free domain name, unmetered bandwidth, unlimited domains and unlimited email accounts (except on their basic plan), plus lots more.
  • One-Click WordPress installation.

So, with that out of the way, let’s cover how to sign up with Bluehost.

1. Go To Bluehost.com

Just follow this link and look for the “get started now” button.

2. Choose a Hosting Plan

Once you click the get started now button, you will likely see three shared hosting plans to choose from: Basic, Plus, and Prime.

Here are some of the features of each plan for you to compare:

Basic Plan (Recommended)

  • Host one website with 50GB of space
  • Unmetered bandwidth
  • 5 email accounts with 100MB per account.

Plus Plan

  • Host unlimited websites with unmetered space
  • Unlimited email accounts with unlimited storage space
  • Included spam protection

Prime Plan

  • Host unlimited websites with unmetered space
  • Unlimited email accounts and storage space
  • Includes website backups, domain privacy, and more

Business Pro Plan

  • Host unlimited websites with unlimited space
  • Unlimited email accounts and storage space
  • Includes spam protection, SSL certificate, dedicated IP, domain privacy, and more

I recommend starting with the basic plan. It has all you need to get started. Upgrading is easy if needed.

The other plans make more sense if you want to run several websites with one account or if you want to run an online store.

3. Choose a Domain Name

After selecting a plan, you will be asked for a domain name:

If you have already registered a domain, you should choose the option on the right, ‘I have a domain name’. But more likely, you want to register a new domain with Bluehost.

Enter the domain name and then choose whether you want your website to be .com, .org, .net, etc.

4. Enter Your Personal Information

Now that you selected your domain name, it’s time to create your account by entering your personal information. You’ll even be able to log into your Gmail account to get your information entered even faster.

5. Select Your Add-ons

You will be able to select the plan duration (12, 24, or 36 months) and choose some add-ons.

Site Backup Pro

A $2.99 a month add-on, site backup pro will regularly create backups of your website.

So if your website crashes or you make a major mistake, you can restore your website to the last backup with the click of one button. You can also download compressed files containing all your website’s data.

I recommend getting this add-on, it can be a lifesaver for your site.

Search Engine Jumpstart

For $2.99 a month, Bluehost will help get your website onto the big three search engines (Google, Yahoo, and Bing) as quickly as possible.

This is not the most important add-on, I don’t recommend getting it.

SITELOCK SECURITY

For $1.99 a month, this add-on provides some extra security for your domain, including malware scans DDoS protection and some other standard website protection.

This add-on is best suited for people running websites where products are sold and payment information may be stored. If you decide to run your site on WordPress, then you can get a lot of the safety features through free WordPress plug-in.

I don’t recommend that you get this add-on.

6. Enter Your Payment Information

Now you just need to enter your payment information.  Bluehost allows you to pay via credit card or PayPal.

7. Select A Password

The last step is selecting a good password for your account.

And then you are done! Congratulations to your new hosting account!

You will receive a welcome email very shortly confirming your hosting account with Bluehost containing all the login details you need to get started.

Congratulations, you have now taken your first step towards actually creating your website. The next step is to install WordPress.

If you haven’t already, go to Bluehost.com and sign up right now.
